Cathy Whittall Artist is an independent British art and illustration business celebrating the beauty, character and diversity of the natural world and the people and places around us. Based on the edge of the Cotswolds, Cathy creates distinctive artwork across landscape, portraiture, botanical and wildlife subjects, working in a combination of digital illustration, watercolour and oils. Her work is inspired by close observation, a love of nature and the individuality of each subject, whether that is a familiar Cotswold landscape, the intricate form of a flower, the character of British wildlife or the personality and story behind a portrait. Landscape and a sense of place are an important part of Cathy’s work. The countryside, villages and natural beauty of the Cotswolds provide a rich source of inspiration, with its changing seasons, wildlife, architecture and distinctive rural character all contributing to her creative practice. Her botanical work explores the colour, structure and detail found in flowers and plants. From delicate individual studies to bold contemporary compositions, Cathy combines careful observation with artistic interpretation to create botanical artwork that feels both timeless and contemporary. Wildlife is another central theme, particularly British birds and the landscapes they inhabit. Kingfishers, peregrine falcons and barn owls are among the subjects that feature in her collections.
